90 músicas gringas de 2015

após a lista dos melhores discos gringos do ano, nada mais natural que a de músicas né não. acabei meio que sem querer fechando também no número 90. coisa pra diabo, muitos sons, e esse número podia facilmente ser maior, pois tem artistas aí - kendrick, blur, dj vadim & sena, drake, ibeyi, son little, etc - que poderiam emplacar 3 ou 4. também é fácil notar que a lista tem muito rap e, nunca é demais repetir, a razão é simples: o rap é foda [e tá cada vez mais foda em todos os níveis, do político ao musical, das misturas à tradição, e em vários lugares do mundo].

sinceramente não saberia dizer qual ou quais músicas do ano. tem 3 hits globais na minha lista - “uptown funk” [mark ronson & bruno mars], “bitch better have my money” [rihanna] e “hotline bling” [drake] - e tem canções sensacionais de veteranas(os) em plena atividade - madonna, ghostface killah, blur, missy elliott, erykah badu, giorgio moroder, lauryn hill, prince e public enemy. tem também um punhado bom de novinhas e novinhos mostrando que as novas gerações não deixarão a música cair na mesmice, tais como alessia cara, bishop neru, don monique, dope saint jude, le1f, leon bridges, lianne la havas, lizzo, nicola cruz, nozinja, pell, rae sremmurd, raury, shamir e the internet.

90 discos gringos de 2015

mais um ano cheio de muita música boa, mais um ano repleto de excelentes artistas iniciantes e veteranos a toda velocidade. a tradicional retrospectiva musical aqui do esforçado começa este ano com os melhores discos gringos e não tive escolha a não ser mais uma vez bastante inclusivo e fechei a lista com 90 álbuns [e poderia ter mais].

pra facilitar o texto – e entender melhor o que mais gostei da produção deste ano – acabei dividindo esses 90 discos em quatro blocos [rap, instrumentais, pop-rock-soul-eletrônico e mundão]. e vou começar com o rap, o gênero que vem trazendo cada vez mais coisas novas e instigantes para nossos ouvidos e cabeças. pouco mais de um terço da lista é do rap, com direito a to pimp a butterfly, de kendrick lamar, disparado um dos melhores, mais fortes e complexos discos do ano, e ainda o poderoso white men are black men too [young fathers], if you’re reading this it’s too late [drake, cada vez mais afiado] e a surpresa de summertime '06 [vince staples]. mas ainda teve o retorno do dr. dre, os incansáveis ghostface killah, snoop dogg e public enemy, a originalidade inglesa de roots manuva e ghostpoet e o poder das minas erykah badu e georgia anne muldrow. seguem então meus destaques do rap gringo [majoritariamente norte-americano, obviamente], em ordem alfabética...

então chega a hora dos sons instrumentais e o mundo se abre com os colombianos do romperayo [que tem gente do projeto ondatrópica e do meridian brothers], o finlandês jimi tenor, o francês pascal comelade, os canadenses da souljazz orchestra, e tem jazz [joshua redman acompanhado do the bad plus], rock [ratatat], interpretações de john zorn [forró in the dark], mas meus destaques pessoais, o que mais bateu aqui, foram os impressionantes lest we forget what we came here to do [dos ingleses sons of kemet] e the epic [ousado & duplo disco de estreia do saxofonista kamasi washington que, não coincidentemente, também toca no disco de kendrick lamar].

o outro terço dessa lista é composto por um grande bloco reunindo pop, rock, soul, eletrônica e dub/reggae. tem novos trabalhos de pratas da casa como björk, beirut, cee lo green, dj vadim, madonna, major lazer, mark ronson, prince, sharon jones & the dap-kings, shawn lee, the arcs [grupo novo de uma das metades do black keys], the lions, the skints e toro y moi. e não tenho como não falar da boa surpresa que foi miley cyrus e seu disco lisérgico produzido pelo flaming lips.

mas desse bloco os destaques pessoais, álbuns que me acompanharam muitas vezes durante o ano, foram the magic whip [blur], disco lindo lindo que é muito mais cheios de camadas que grande parte da produção contemporânea pop/rock, e as psicodelias eletrônicas de panda bear meets the grim reaper [panda bear ou noah lennox, uma das cabeças do animal collective]. sem falar nas belezuras ouvidas nas estreias da irmãs ibeyi e de son little. que discos, que discos.

mas de todos esses álbuns, os meus destaques vão para o belo e sensacional la vie est belle [petite noir] com sua mistura irrotulável de pop, eletrônica e experimentalismos regionais; pro climão ethiojazz de wondem [dexter story]; pra alegria dançante de amanecer [bomba estéreo]; e pra maviosa surf music cambodjana de the deepest lake [dengue fever].

60 músicas gringas de 2014 [e algo mais]

chegando ao fim da retrospectiva musical deste louco ano de copa e eleições. já passaram por aqui músicas e discos brasileiros, e discos gringos. agora é a vez das músicas gringas em uma lista maior [são 60 e com mais um chorinho massa].

2014 foi o ano de mais uma ótima música pop & fenômeno cultural, “happy” do pharrell williams, que na verdade saiu no final de 2013 como parte da trilha sonora da animação meu malvado favorito 2, mas que estourou esse ano e foi lançada em seu segundo disco solo. 2014 também foi o ano de novos ótimos trabalhos [e, consequentemente, músicas] de veteranos como leonard cohen, snoop dogg, de la soul, neneh cherry, tony allen, wu-tang clam e prince.

no entanto, como tem sido quase uma regra inconsciente de todas as listas que faço desde 2009, grande parte das músicas é de artistas estreantes ou com menos de dez anos de carreira. outra quase regra é a variedade de lugares, pois tem gente de burkina faso [joey le soldat], togo/frança [vaudou game], colômbia [meridian brothers], escócia/libéria/nigéria [young fathers], nigéria [tony allen], austrália [chet faker], canadá [leonard cohen, alejandra ribera e the souljazz orchestra], sudão/inglaterra [sinkane], frança [sebastien tellier e guts], suécia/inglaterra [fatima], inglaterra [sbtrkt, wiley e lily allen], suécia [lykke li], egito [maryam saleh], frança/cuba [ibeyi], portugal [capicua], chile [ana tijoux], holanda [jungle by night], palestina [adnan joubran] e áfrica do sul [nozinja]. então, sem mais delongas, e em ordem alfabética...
